Evacuation centres and reception centres

The following reception centres have been set up to welcome and assist wildfire evacuees. Evacuees must register online or in person at the reception centre in their community. This ensures staff can quickly help them and connect them with needed resources.

Grande Prairie: Bonnets Energy Centre, 10017 99 Avenue
If travelling to Grande Prairie, take Highway 16 west to Prince George, proceed north via Highway 97, then south on Highway 2 and back east to Grande Prairie via Highway 43.
Calgary: Shouldice Arena, 1515 Home Road NW | Learn more
If travelling to Calgary, take Highway 5 south to Kamloops, then proceed east on Highway 1 to Calgary.
Edmonton: Kennedale Site Building #2, 12814 58 Street | Learn more
If travelling from Grande Prairie to Edmonton, take Highway 43 south, then go east on Highway 16 to Edmonton.

ShellYEG is the online name of an Edmonton woman devastated by the wildfire events that have befallen the town of Jasper, Alberta. Now a medically retired web content specialist and public information officer, she has worked with such organizations as Partners in Protection, creators of the FireSmart manual; the International Association of Wildland Fire; Guidance Group; and the ministry formerly known as Sustainable Resource Development.

With education and experience in public relations, graphic design, and web content management, Shell leveraged her skills to create Help for Jasper, a single, convenient resource to help wildfire evacuees.

Before moving to Edmonton to attend the University of Alberta, Shell lived in Fort McMurray. Working on the FireSmart manual in the early 2000s, and also writing about the 2011 Slave Lake fire, the wildfire events of the past several years have profoundly affected her. She didn’t have to think twice about whether my skills could help, even if in a small way.
